Springboro Kitchen – Cabinets

Wow, a lot has been accomplished over the last couple of weeks in Springboro!  The space is definitely starting to take shape and the layout is now much more prominent.

After the drywall was complete, the wood floor took about a week to be installed.  Our clients chose a darker shade of wood than their cabinets so there was a bit of a contrast between the two.  Beth helped them to choose the perfect stain that would blend, not only with their new cabinets, but also the existing wood work in the rest of the house.  The wood floor was installed in almost the entire lower level of their house including the entry, kitchen, family room, back hallway and powder room.

Unfortunately, Randy had the hardwood floors covered up before I had a chance to get back in there to take pictures.  Our guys spend a lot of time protecting the flooring with cardboard immediately after it is installed.  Tools, cabinets, and appliances are all a wood floor’s worst enemy.

Randy has started and is a good part way through installing the Omega cabinets.  The quality of these cabinets are impeccable and soft-close doors and drawers all come standard. Our clients chose the Artesia door style, with alder wood, honey stain and a bronze glazing.  Omega is one of the best cabinet manufacturers in the industry and they back their product with a limited lifetime warranty.

It’s a little hard to tell right now what the shape of the island will be until the granite countertop is installed.  The island has a slight bend that goes with the flow of the cabinets that wrap around the corner to the door.

The family room side of the project hasn’t been touched much since the flooring went in.  It was primarily utilized to store and organize cabinets.

Open shelving and glass doors will be put over the filing center and bar area for a little more decorative look.

The next thing Randy will be working on is Trim Carpentry and building the rest of the custom bar.  Crown molding is going up around the kitchen cabinets as well as around the family room.  Back splash tile will follow trim.  And don’t forget about the powder room to be completed as well!  Check back next week to see the next big transformation.
